HIGH ACRES BASE-STATION MAST ACTION GROUP

In September 2006 concerned residents wrote to Planning Department Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council enquiring regarding planning permission for installation of antenna/dishes which continued to be installed on the disused tower even though residents were not being informed.

In the Summer of 2007 a further 6 dishes were installed on the disused tower, again residents were not informed by Dudley Council. The base-station encroaches on public open space which includes a childrens play area.

Mast Action UK were contacted in December 2007 as expert advice was required to enable us to take our campaign forward. We have received excellent direction & support from the team at MAUK & continue to do so.

In March 2008 as advised by MAUK we carried out a survey in the neighbouring vicinity of the base-station using the COM Monitor. The team advised the best & correct way to conduct the survey, the result of which is excellent and shows our situation at a glance. As a follow-up to our own survey, MAUK arranged for Ofcom to visit High Acres Estate & carry out audit/survey in the neighbouring vicinity of the base-station. The result of this showed that although within the ICNIRP guideline limit for this Country, it was the highest radiation level carried out by Ofcom so far this year (May 2008).

As a result of both surveys our campaign made front page headlines in Stourbridge News on 12th June 2008. From this point onwards our campaign has gained strength & we have received offers of support from World Leaders in the field. Without the invaluable direction & support from the team at MAUK our campaign would be nowhere near as far forward as we are today.

We have formed an action group & we are very pleased to announce that we are affiliated to Mast Action UK National Campaign For Sensible Siting Of Masts.

We are delighted that Christine Mangat MAUK has accepted our invitation to speak at our Public Open Meeting on Wednesday 10th September 2008 at The Brier School Bromley Lane Kingswinford West Midlands about the work of MAUK & their involvement with the campaign on High Acres Estate.
