About Us

The use of mobile phones has been linked with health issues

Mast Action UK (MAUK) is a voluntary national organisation launched in the House of Commons December 2000.

The campaign was set up to help communities and individuals with Mast siting problems and it has the following objectives:

* To bring all masts under full planning regulations
* To ensure this legislation takes full account of health and environmental concerns
* To raise public awareness about the potential risks to everyone from masts
* To unite mast campaign groups across the country
* To return to local citizens a voice in the decisions that affect their quality of life and their families' future.

MAUK is NOT against mobile phone technology- just the unnecessary and insensitive siting of masts too close to our family homes, schools and hospitals.

MAUK gave help since when we have helped hundreds more groups, many of whom successfully won their campaigns. We produce an action pack full of advice and facts to assist you in your campaign.

MAUK is run by Christine Mangat and Julie Matthew and has legal, political and financial advisors, all of whom work on a voluntary basis. Christine and Julie have been mast campaigners since the erection of an Orange mast close to their homes in the grounds of Goffs Oak JMI School in 1995.

MAUK works with local communities, government departments, mobile operators and other environmental organisations to try to find sensible locations for Mobile phone masts.

MAUK had input into:

The Department of Trade and Industry Select Committee's report into telecommunications masts:
The Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones Report 'Mobile Phones and Health' (Stewart Report);
The Operators 10 Commitments.
